Some time back Irene began to look for ways to express her interest in design and colour compositions. She started painting when joining the Hangar Art association and went to London in 2009 to train as an Interior Designer. At the Hangar she has been experimenting with pastels, oils, watercolours and clay works but got really carried away with acrylics while learning on abstract expressionism. Originally from Finland she lives and exhibits at the Cote d’Azur.
When starting a new painting I often have an idea in my head of what I am intending to do. I spread the colours on canvas, changing something, removing or adding on something else. I am getting absorbed in the work expressing moods and feelings of the moment. In this way my experience of the whole process of painting becomes a kind of meditative engagement. At the end I am often led to interesting and surprising results. It makes me happy when someone else gets good “vibes” with (likes) my work.
